Powder Metallurgy Institute, PMI , Minsk, Belarus of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus is a state scientific institution with about 500 employees and extensive technical and re-search facilities. PMI was founded in 1972. PMI is currently the leading Belarusian research in-stitute in the field of the material development and research. PMI includes various departments dealing with structural materials, super-hard materials, porous materials, protective coatings, bio-implants, advanced ceramics, heat pipes, friction and antifriction components, electrical compo-nents, explosive technologies, welding technologies, certification of materials, etc. PMI is the head organization of the State Scientific and Technical Program “New Materials and Technolo-gies”. PMI has a 15-year experience in development of the ceramic and metallic foams including the foam-structure catalysts and catalyst supports. The core activities in the field of the foam-structure catalysts are as follows: preparation of a foam-structure support (metallic or ceramic) with the required structural, mechanical, thermal and corrosion parameters; enhancement of the catalyst specific surface and its stabilization; deposition of a catalytic layer. PMI performed nu-merous national projects and direct contracts in this area.
