Technical University of Denmark, Risų National Laboratory (RISOE)

The Technical University of Denmark (DTU) merged with several Danish research institutes and continues its activities as DTU. Among the merged organisation is the Risų National laboratory (Risų), which is the leading SOFC research institution in Denmark. The work in this project will all be executed by Risų. The Material Research Department has ca. 150 employees of which 50 man-years per year are devoted directly to SOFC projects. The Material Research De-partment has studied SOFC related materials for ca. 20 years, and has been involved in the de-velopment cells and stacks for ca. 15 years. Risų has considerable know-how in the production and the testing of cell components, full cells and stacks. The Department has been leading a large national Danish SOFC programme since 1989. As a part of this, Risų built and tested a 500 W stack over 2000 hours during 1995. At Risų a pre-pilot production line for anode supported 12x12 cm2 SOFCs with thin (10 μm) electrolyte has been established. Risų has a close co-operation with the Danish company, Haldor Topsoe A/S, with the purpose of developing com-mercial SOFCs.
